A process for beneficiation of an electric arc furnace dust is disclosed. EAF dust (101) is briquetted with coal (60). The briquettes (64) are added to a furnace (12) along with a scrap metal charge (400). Zinc oxide fume (102) is driven off and collected for hydrometallurgical processing (100). Any iron containing insolubles (68) recovered from that process are added to the briquetting mix (60). A product solution (74) is processed (300) to recover zinc. Any iron insolubles (86) may be reintroduced into the briquetting process (60).

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour la préparation des poussières d'un four électrique à arc (EAF). Les poussières EAF (101) sont briquetées avec du charbon (60). Les briquettes (64) sont ajoutées à un four (12) avec une charge de ferraille (400). Les vapeurs d'oxyde de zinc (102) sont conduites et recueillies au moyen d'un traitement hydrométallurgique (100). Ce procédé permet de récupérer tous les insolubles à contenu ferreux (68) et de les ajouter au mélange de briquetage (60). La solution du produit (74) est traitée (300) pour la récupération du zinc. On peut réintroduire tous les insolubles à contenu ferreux (86) dans le procédé de briquetage (60).
