A power seat adjuster (10) includes a drive shaft (160) rotatably driven by a motor (150) fixedly connected to a movable track (52) of a vehicle seat track assembly (46, 48). The drive shaft (160) threadingly engages a drive nut (132) fixedly connected to a fixed track (50) of one track assembly. The fixed and movable tracks (50, 52) have opposed, longitudinally extending grooves (62, 64, 76, 78) which form an elongated bore receiving a plurality of polymeric balls (79) to slidably interconnect the movable and fixed tracks (52, 50). Upon high impact loads, the polymeric balls (79) deform to bring opposed surfaces of the movable and fixed tracks (52, 50) into contact to lock the movable and fixed tracks into a single unit for direct transfer of the impact loads from the movable track (52) to the fixed track (50) and therefrom to the vehicle floor.

Ce dispositif de réglage de siège actionné par moteur (10) comprend un arbre d'entraînement (160) entraîné en rotation par un moteur (150) accouplé à demeure à une glissière mobile (52) d'un ensemble glissières (46, 48) de siège de véhicule. L'arbre d'entraînement (160) se visse dans un écrou de commande (132) accouplé à demeure à une glissière fixe (50) d'un ensemble glissières. Les glissières fixe et mobile (50, 52) comportent des gorges opposées longitudinales (62, 64, 76, 78) qui forment un passage allongé recevant une pluralité de billes polymères (79) reliant entre elles, à coulissement, les glissières fixe et mobile (52, 50). Lorsque des charges d'impact élevées sont appliquées, les billes polymères (79) se déforment pour amener les surfaces opposées des glissières mobile et fixe (52, 50) en contact et les verrouiller en une seule unité de sorte que les charges d'impact soient directement transférées de la glissière mobile (52) à la glissière fixe (50) et de là au plancher du véhicule.
