Abstract

A push-pull valve assembly (10, 50) for an engine cylinder includes an engine (12, 52) defining a gas passageway (14, 54) in fluid communication with a hollow piston cylinder (13, 53) via a first opening (15, 55) and a second opening (16, 56). An inward valve seat (17, 57) is positioned in the first opening adjacent the hollow piston cylinder. An outward valve seat (18, 58) is positioned in the second opening adjacent the gas passageway. A first valve member (20, 60) has a first stem (21, 61) and a first enlarged portion (22, 62) with an inward valve face (23, 63) positioned in the hollow piston cylinder. A second valve member (25, 65) has a second stem (26, 66) and a second enlarged portion (27, 67) with an outward valve face (28, 68) positioned in the gas passageway. The first valve member and the second valve member are operably coupled via a mechanical or hydraulic linkage (33, 73). A spring (36, 80) biases the valve closed.

Cette invention concerne un ensemble soupapes à poussée-traction (10, 50) destiné à un cylindre de moteur, ledit ensemble comportant un moteur (12, 52) définissant un passage (14, 54) pour les gaz en communication fluidique avec un cylindre creux (13, 53) à piston par l'intermédiaire d'un premier orifice (15, 55) et d'un second orifice (16, 56). Un siège (17, 57) de soupape orienté vers l'intérieur est positionné dans le premier orifice à proximité du cylindre creux à piston. Un siège (18, 58) de soupape orienté vers l'extérieur est positionné dans le second orifice à proximité du passage pour les gaz. Un premier élément de soupape (20, 60) possède une première tige (21, 61) et une première partie élargie (22, 62) ayant une face de soupape orientée vers l'intérieur (23, 63) et positionnée dans le cylindre à piston creux. Un second élément de soupape (25, 65) présente une seconde tige (26, 66) et une seconde partie élargie (27, 67) ayant une face de soupape orientée vers l'extérieur (28, 68) et positionnée dans le passage pour les gaz. Le premier élément de soupape et le second élément de soupape sont couplés fonctionnellement par l'intermédiaire d'une liaison hydraulique ou mécanique (33, 73).
