A multiple frequency zoned disk storage device in which data is read from and/or written to the disk (100) at two or more discrete disk velocities ($g(v)j) is disclosed. The disk storage device includes a low power mode where information is read/written from/to the disk (100) while the disk velocity ($g(v)j) is reduced to conserve power. The allocation track locations into zones (101) on the drive reduces the number of zone bit frequencies the storage device must handle.

L'invention concerne un dispositif de mémorisation sur disque divisé en zones à fréquences multiples dans lequel des données sont lues et/ou écrites sur le disque (100) à au moins deux vitesses ($g(v)j) distinctes du disque. Le dispositif de mémorisation à disque comprend un mode de basse puissance dans lequel les informations sont lues/écrites sur le disque (100) tandis que la vitesse ($g(v)j) du disque est réduite afin d'économiser l'énergie. L'affectation d'emplacements de pistes dans des zones (101) dans l'unité de disque réduit le nombre de fréquences binaires des zones que le dispositif de mémorisation doit prendre en charge.
