Abstract
(EN) The present invention includes processes and resulting structures for producing moisture absorbing desiccant entrained polymers. A polymer is caused to assume a molten state, typically by applying heat and melting the polymer. To achieve certain results in the hardened end product, such as rigidly and durability, the polymer normally acts as a moisture barrier in a solidified state, both before and after melting. A desiccating agent (30) is blended into the polymer (25) so that the desiccating agent is distributed within the polymer. A channeling agent (35) is also blended into the polymer so that it is distributed within the polymer. The blending of the components is preferably done before the polymer is caused to assume a molten state. Together, the polymer, desiccating agent and channeling agent create a blended mixture. The mixture is solidified so that the channeling agent forms passages (45) in the mixture through which moisture is communicable to desiccating agent that is entrained within the mixture. The solidified mixture may be used to form plug type inserts (55) and liners (70) for closed containers (60), or it may be used for producing laminated sheeting (75) employed as package wrap.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des procédés et des structures associées permettant de produire des polymères à agents déshydratants entraînés absorbant l'humidité. On confère à un polymère un état de fusion, généralement par application de chaleur et fusion du polymère. Afin de permettre l'obtention de certaines propriétés dans le produit fini durci, tels la rigidité et la durabilité, le polymère agit généralement comme une barrière d'humidité à l'état solide aussi bien avant qu'après la fusion. Un agent déshydratant (30) est mélangé au polymère (25) de sorte que ledit agent déshydratant se diffuse dans le polymère. Un agent de formation de canaux (35) est aussi mélangé au polymère et se diffuse dans ledit polymère. Le mélange des composants s'effectue de manière préférentielle avant que le polymère ne passe à l'état de fusion. L'ensemble polymère, agent déshydratant et agent de formation de canaux constitue un mélange homogène. Le mélange se solidifie de sorte que l'agent de formation de canaux crée des passages (45), dans le mélange, par lesquels l'humidité entre en contact avec l'agent déshydratant qui est entraîné dans le mélange. Le mélange solidifié peut être utilisé pour fabriquer des garnitures intérieures de fond (55) et de côtés (70) et des boîtes fermées (60). Il peut aussi être utilisé pour produire des feuilles stratifiées (75) employées dans les emballages.
