Abstract

This invention is an exercise device comprising a variable speed rotary driving device (10), an adjustable speed control (90) for the rotary driving device, an exercise link (70) offering resistance to motion of the user, and a hydraulic coupling (30) connecting the variable speed rotary driving device to a torque multiplier (40). The exercise device operates such that torque is transmitted to the exercise link (70) to impart resistance to motion of the link (70), the resistance to motion is variable, a consistent function of the speed, direction of the link (70), and of the variable speed rotary driving device (10).

Cette invention porte sur un exerciseur comportant un mécanisme moteur rotatif à vitesse variable, une commande réglable de la vitesse (90) pour le mécanisme moteur rotatif, un câble d'exercice (70) opposant une résistance aux mouvements exécutés par l'utilisateur et un couplage hydraulique (30) reliant le mécanisme moteur à un multiplicateur de couple (40). Le fonctionnement de cet exerciseur est tel qu'un couple est transmis au câble d'exercice (70) afin d'opposer une résistance au déplacement de celui-ci. Cette résistance au mouvement qui est variable, est également en cohérence avec la vitesse et le sens de déplacement du câble ainsi qu'avec la vitesse du mécanisme moteur rotatif à vitesse variable.
