Carbonated beverages can have a substantially reduced concentration of water soluble materials derived from biaxially oriented thermoformed beverage containers. Such containers can comprise a permeant barrier and an active trap for water soluble materials that can be removed from the thermoplastic by extraction into the carbonated beverage. The improved container material comprises a blow molded thermoplastic polyester web comprising a compatible modified cyclodextrin material having pendent moieties or substituents that render the cyclodextrin material compatible with the container thermoplastic. The cyclodextrin material, after it is added to the polymer material, acts as a barrier and to trap extractable materials as they permeate through the thermoplastic polyester. The cyclodextrin molecule has a large center cavity having properties that increase the likelihood that organic molecules will be absorbed and trapped in the center pore. The resulting polyester is substantially resistant to any extraction of soluble materials from the polyester material by the carbonated beverage.

Les boissons gazeuses peuvent contenir une concentration relativement réduite de matières solubles dans l'eau provenant de récipients à boissons formés à chaud orientés biaxialement. Ces récipients peuvent comporter un matériau barrière pour les perméants et un piège efficace pour les matières solubles dans l'eau, lesquelles peuvent s'échapper du thermoplastique par extraction dans la boisson gazeuse. Ce matériau de récipient amélioré comprend une bande polyester thermoplastique formée par soufflage contenant une matière cyclodextrine modifiée compatible, ladite matière comportant des fractions latérales ou des substituants qui rendent la cyclodextrine compatible avec le thermoplastique du récipient. La matière cyclodextrine, une fois ajoutée à la matière polymère, agit comme une barrière et retient les matières extractibles au fur et à mesure qu'elles filtrent à travers le polyester thermoplastique. La molécule de cyclodextrine est munie d'une grande cavité centrale dont les propriétés augmentent la probabilité que des molécules organiques soient absorbées et retenues dans le pore central. Le polyester ainsi obtenu est relativement résistant à toute extraction par la boisson gazeuse de matières solubles provenant de la matière polyester.
