The invention relates to an apparatus for recording a data signal in data track(s) and an additional signal in an auxiliary track on a record carrier. The apparatus comprises a conversion means for converting the data signal and the additional signal into first and second channel signals. The apparatus is adapted to generate successive frames (Fj) of the first channel signal comprising portions of the data signal and frames (Fj+1) being devoid of any portion of the data signal and further to generate a frame of the second channel signal to be recorded with a corresponding frame of the first channel signal. Each frame of the second channel signal comprises p signal blocks (p$m(g)1). The frames are such that if the frame (Fj+1) of the first channel signal is devoid of any portion of the data signal, the corresponding frame of the second channel signal comprises portions of the additional signal in all the signal blocks in that frame, and that, if the frame (Fj) of the first channel signal comprises a portion of the data signal, the corresponding frame of the second channel signal has at least one block comprising a portion of the additional signal and at least one block being devoid of any portion of the additional signal. The invention also relates to an apparatus for reproducing data signals and to a record carrier.

L'invention concerne un appareil pour enregistrer un signal de données dans une ou des pistes de données et un signal additionnel dans une piste auxiliaire sur un support d'enregistrement. L'appareil comprend un moyen de conversion destiné à convertir le signal de données et le signal additionnel en signaux de premier et second canaux. L'appareil est conçu pour générer des trames successives (Fj) du signal du premier canal comprenant des parties du signal de données et des trames (Fj+1) dépourvues de toute partie de signal de données et ensuite pour générer une trame du signal du second canal à enregistrer avec une trame correspondante du signal du premier canal. Chaque trame du signal de second canal comprend p blocs de signal (p$m(g)1). Ces trames sont telles que si la trame (Fj+1) du signal du premier canal est dépourvue de toute partie de signal de données, la trame correspondante du signal du second canal comprend des parties du signal additionnel dans tous les blocs de signal dans cette trame, et que, si la trame (Fj) du signal du premier canal comprend une partie du signal de données, la trame correspondante du signal du second canal présente au moins un bloc comprenant une partie du signal additionnel et au moins un bloc ne présentant aucune partie de signal additionnel. L'invention concerne également un appareil pour reproduire des signaux de données et un support d'enregistrement.
