Disclosed are automatic dryer added fabric conditioning articles and methods utilizing fabric conditioning compositions comprising from about 20 percent to about 80 percent by weight of a mixture of quaternary ammonium compounds, and between about 80 percent to about 20 percent by weight of a mixture of glycerin and glyceryl esters, wherein the fabric conditioning compositions possess a melting point of about 30 °C to about 65 °C. The conditioning compositions of the present invention are preferably employed in combination with a dispensing means adapted for use in an automatic clothes dryer. The fabric conditioning compositions may be coated onto substrates, and the fabric conditioning articles thereby obtained used to impart softness and anti-static properties to fabric. The method portion of the invention involves the commingling of damp fabrics with the fabric conditioning compositions in an automatic clothes dryer to impart softness and anti-static properties to the fabric. The compositions of this invention, when coated onto substrates are mechanically and thermally stable and thus are not dislodged or prematurely released when substrate is flexed, twisted and/or stored at room temperature.

L'invention concerne des produits d'assouplissement de tissus ajoutés dans le sèche-linge automatique, et des procédés d'utilisation de compositions d'assouplissement de tissus. Ces compositions comprennent entre 20 et 80 pour cent en poids d'un mélange de composés d'ammonium quaternaire, et entre 20 et 80 pour cent en poids, environ, d'un mélange d'esters de glycérine et de glycérile, et présentent un point de fusion compris entre 30 et 65 °C environ. Les compositions d'assouplissement selon la présente invention sont, de préférence, employées en combinaison avec un moyen de distribution adapté pour être utilisé dans un sèche-linge automatique. Les compositions d'assouplissement de tissus peuvent être appliquées sur des substrats, et les produits d'assouplissement ainsi obtenus permettent d'assouplir les tissus et de leur conférer des propriétés anti-statiques. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à mélanger les tissus humides aux dites compositions, dans un sèche-linge automatique, pour les assouplir et leur conférer des propriétés anti-statiques. Les compositions selon l'invention, une fois appliquées sur les substrats sont stables, du point de vue mécanique et thermique, et n'ont ainsi pas tendance à s'enlever ou se séparer du substrat lors de la flexion, torsion et/ou stockage de celui-ci à température ambiante.
