Abstract:
(EN) The present invention provides a method for treating volatile hazardous air pollutant (VHAP) and volatile organic compound (VOC) waste products from gas streams. The system disclosed herein employs microporous hydrophilic membranes (10) to remove VHAPs/VOCs from a gas stream (40) into an oleophilic stripping fluid (44). The stripping fluid (44) is directed into a separate biomembrane reactor (20) wherein the VHAPs/VOCs are transferred across a second microporous hydrophobic membrane into an aqueous nutrient medium (120), where the extracted VHAPs/VOCs are degraded by microorganisms residing on the surface of the membrane. VHAPs/VOCs are degraded to carbon dioxide, water, and cell debris. The disclosed system uncouples biotreatment from waste generation, such that operation of the biotreatment unit (20) can be continuous and optimized independently of plant work schedules or fluctuations in pollutant concentrations entering the system.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement de produits résiduels constitués de polluants de l'air volatils dangereux (VHAP) et de composés organiques volatils (VOC) provenant de flux gazeux. Le système ici décrit emploie des membranes hydrophiles microporeuses (10) pour éliminer les VHAP/VOC d'un flux gazeux (40) dans un fluide d'extraction oléophile (44). Le fluide d'extraction (44) est dirigé dans un réacteur à biomembrane séparé (20) dans lequel les VHAP/VOC sont transférés à travers une seconde membrane hydrophobe microporeuse, jusque dans un milieu nutrifif aqueux (120), dans lequel les VHAP/VOC extraits sont soumis à une dégradation par des micro-organismes résidant sur la surface de la membrane. Les VHAP/VOC sont soumis à une dégradation en dioxyde de carbone, en eau et en débris cellulaires. Le système décrit scinde le biotraitement de la génération de déchets, de sorte que le fonctionnement de l'unité de biotraitement (20) puisse être continu et optimisé indépendamment des programmes de travail des usines ou des fluctuations au niveau des concentrations de polluants entrant dans le système.
