Abstract:
(EN) An energy absorbing device for restraining a safety belt on impact is provided. In one embodiment, the device includes a cylindrical housing having a circular opening at a first end thereof, a piston unit reciprocally located within the housing, and a triggering unit connected to the housing. The piston unit includes a flat edge defining a vacuum section and a piston rod connected at one end thereof to the safety belt. The triggering unit is primed by expelling air from vacuum section and locking the piston rod. When the safety belt is subject to impact forces, the triggering unit releases the piston rod thereby tightening the safety belt around the occupant.
(FR) L'invention se rapporte à un dispositif absorbant l'énergie qui permet de maintenir en place une ceinture de sécurité lors d'un choc. Selon une forme de réalisation, le dispositif comprend un corps cylindrique pourvu d'une ouverture circulaire au niveau d'une première extrémité, un piston alternatif placé dans le corps et un déclencheur raccordé au corps. Le piston comprend un bord plat formant une section sous vide et une tige de piston raccordée au niveau d'une extrémité à la ceinture de sécurité. Le déclencheur est activé par l'expulsion de l'air de la section sous vide et le blocage de la tige de piston. Lorsque la ceinture de sécurité est soumise à des forces d'impact, le déclencheur libère la tige de piston, ce qui bloque la ceinture de sécurité sur l'occupant du siège.
