Abstract:
(EN) A system for intrauterine detection of one or more biological substances, such as meconium or blood, is disclosed. The presence in amniotic fluid of such biological substances indicates an abnormal condition which justifies intervention on the part of a medical practitioner supervising the labor and delivery. A flexible cable (14) which can be inserted into the uterus is provided which includes at least two lumens. The first lumen is used to draw amniotic fluid through a port (16) in the lumen and into an observation chamber outside of the uterus and at the end of the first lumen. The fluid is visually observed by a medical practitioner for the presence of a biological substance or the biological substance can be detected by any one of several described instruments. It is preferred that if an instrument is used to detect the biological substance that a transparent visual observation chamber also be included to allow visual detection also. The apparatus allows stained fluid to be withdrawn from, and clean fluid to be infused into, the uterus in order to reduce the concentration of, and the effect of, the undesirable biological substance in the uterus.
(FR) L'invention concerne un système de détection intra-utérine d'une ou plusieurs substances biologiques, telles que le méconium ou le sang. La présence dans le liquide amniotique de ces substances biologiques indique un état anormal justifiant une intervention de la part du médecin surveillant le travail et l'accouchement. Un câble souple (14) qu'on peut introduire dans l'utérus comprend au moins deux lumières. On utilise la première lumière afin d'extraire du liquide amniotique à travers un orifice (16) de la lumière et d'introduire ce liquide dans une chambre d'observation située à l'extérieur de l'utérus et au niveau de l'extrémité de la première lumière. Le médecin observe ce liquide afin de rechercher la présence d'une substance biologique ou on peut détecter ladite substance au moyen de l'un des différents instruments décrits. Il est préférable qu'une chambre d'observation visuelle soit présente afin de pouvoir exercer une détection visuelle également, si on utilise un instrument pour détecter la substance biologique. Ce dispositif permet de retirer du liquide souillé de l'utérus et d'y perfuser du liquide propre, de manière à limiter la concentration et l'effet de la substance biologique indésirable dans l'utérus.
