Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a modified cellulose ester containing unsaturated pendant groups which can be prepared by reacting a cellulose ester containing residual hydroxyl groups with, for example, maleic anhydride in acetic acid solvent with sodium acetate catalyst. The modified cellulose ester is not homopolymerizable but will copolymerize in the presence of vinyl cross-linking agents and a photoinitiator upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The modified cellulose ester is useful as a protective and/or decorative coating for wood, metal, plastics, paper, board, and other substrates, as well as an additive to printing inks, and as a nail polish. In addition, because of the propensity for the pendant carboxyl groups to form hydrophilic salts with amines, the modified cellulose esters can be formulated to be water-dispersible.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un ester cellulosique modifié contenant des groupes pendants insaturés pouvant être préparés par réaction entre un ester cellulosique contenant des groupes hydroxyle résiduels avec, par exemple, de l'anhydride maléique dans un solvant à acide acétique avec un catalyseur à base d'acétate de sodium. L'ester cellulosique modifié n'est pas homopolymérisable mais peut se copolymériser en présence d'agents de réticulation vinyliques et d'un photoinitiateur lors d'une exposition à un rayonnement ultraviolet. L'ester cellulosique modifié est utile en tant que revêtement protecteur et/ou décoratif pour du bois, du métal, du plastique, du papier, du carton et d'autres substrats, ainsi qu'en tant qu'additif pour des encres d'impression et en tant que vernis à ongles. De plus, du fait de la propension des groupes carboxyle pendants à former des sels hydrophiles avec des amines, les ester cellulosiques modifiés peuvent être formulés pour être dispersibles dans l'eau.
