Abstract:
(EN) A novel brake assembly is provided for a cycle. The bicycle is provided with at least one portion (22) having cavities (56, 76) therein, and the brake actuator (10) mounted on the bicycle, a pair of brake calipers (50, 72) mounted in the cavities (56, 76) and pivotally attached to the bicycle, a caliper-actuating body (40), and a motion transfer assembly (24) coupled to and movable by the brake actuator (10). The caliper actuating body (40) is connected to the motion transfer assembly (24). The calipers (50, 72) are provided with first and second arm portions (60, 62, 80, 82), each of the first arm portions having thereon a ramp surface (64) engaged with the body (40), and each of the second arm portions (62, 82) being configured to receive and retain a brake pad (68, 88). The calipers are pivoted by the caliper-actuating body, acting on the ramp surfaces in response to movement of the motion transfer assembly, so as to move the calipers in a direction that brings the brake pads into engagement with a wheel of the bicycle, so as to exert a braking force on the bicycle. Spring means (92) are provided to urge the calipers in a direction to move the brake pads away from the wheel.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un nouvel ensemble de freinage pour cycle. Une partie au moins de ce cycle comporte des cavités tandis que l'ensemble de freinage est constitué d'une commande de frein montée sur le cycle, de deux étriers de frein montés dans les cavités et fixés sur le cycle de manière à pouvoir pivoter, d'un corps de manoeuvre d'étrier et d'un assemblage de transfert de mouvement couplé à la commande de frein capable de l'actionner. Le corps de manoeuvre d'étrier est raccordé à l'assemblage de transfert de mouvement. Les étriers sont pourvus de premiers et de seconds segments de bras, chacun des premiers segments de bras portant une surface à déclivité appuyée sur le corps alors que chacun des seconds segments de bras est usiné pour loger et retenir une plaquette de frein. Le corps de manoeuvre d'étrier, agissant sur les surfaces en déclivité, en réaction au mouvement de l'assemblage de transfert de mouvement, fait pivoter les étriers de manière à les faire se déplacer dans une direction amenant les plaquettes de frein au contact de la roue du cycle qui, de ce fait, exercent une force de freinage sur celle-ci. Des ressorts forcent les étriers dans une direction faisant s'éloigner les plaquettes de frein de la roue.
