Abstract:
(EN) A longitudinal member (25, 26) that can be positioned in a blood vessel as desired by inflating or otherwise expanding a flow impedance device (50, 55) on the member is described. The flow of blood in the blood vessel serves to draw the flow impedance device and, accordingly, the longitudinal member through the blood vessel as desired. A method for the placement of a longitudinal member, such as a guidewire or catheter, in a desired position in a bodily vessel, such as an artery is also described. The method involves inflating or otherwise expanding a flow impedance device on the guidewire so that it is moved downstream by the blood flow in the vessel. The invention has one particular application in the placement of an intraluminal graft to bridge an aneurysm in an artery of a patient.
(FR) L'invention concerne un élément longitudinal (25, 26) que l'on peut positionner dans un vaisseau sanguin, de la manière désirée, en gonflant ou en dilatant par un autre moyen un dispositif d'impédance fluidique (50, 55) disposé sur l'élément. Le flux sanguin passant dans le vaisseau sert à attirer dans ce dernier le dispositif d'impédance et, par suite, l'élément longitudinal, de la manière désirée. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de placer un élément longitudinal, tel qu'un guide métallique ou un cathéter, à l'endroit désiré à l'intérieur d'un vaisseau de l'organisme, tel qu'une artère. Pour cela, on gonfle ou on dilate par un autre moyen un dispositif d'impédance fluidique disposé sur le guide métallique, de façon qu'il soit entraîné par le flux sanguin passant dans le vaisseau. L'invention comporte une application particulière, qui est la mise en place d'un greffon endo-luminal destiné à ponter un anévrysme artériel chez un patient.
