Abstract:
(EN) A plurality of data handling devices (12), such as disk drives, are connected in series in a data transfer circuit (16) to provide a path for data signals leading sequentially through each device (12) to the next, i.e. in a 'daisy chain' connection. The devices are removably mounted in receiving bays (13) in a rack (11) and are interconnected electrically by a plurality of connectors (15) each for coupling a device in a bay in the transfer circuit. Each connector (15) is arranged to provide a data path through the device (12) when the device is present, and to provide a data path through the connector (15) when the device (12) is removed. Preferably each connector (15) is a break-before-make connector which produces a temporary interruption in the data path along the data transfer circuit, which interruption can be detected to register the connector or disconnection of a device (12) in the circuit.
(FR) L'invention se rapporte à une pluralité de dispositifs de traitement de données (12) tels que des unités de disques qui sont raccordés en série dans un circuit de transfert de données (16) afin de former un chemin pour les signaux de données passant de manière séquentielle d'un dispositif (12) à l'autre, c.-à-d. dans une connexion 'en guirlande'. Les dispositifs sont montés amovibles dans les modules (13) d'une baie (11) et sont interconnectés électriquement par une pluralité de connecteurs (15), chacun étant destiné à coupler un dispositif d'un module dans le circuit de transfert.
