Abstract:
(EN) A polymer-dispersed liquid-crystal electrooptical device including a liquid crystal-polymer composite layer (7) in which a liquid crystal (7A) and a polymer (7B) are dispersed in different phases and the liquid crystal and the polymer are oriented in the same direction when no electric field is applied; and electrode structures (3, 4) which are formed on both surfaces of the liquid crystal polymer composite layer, for orienting the liquid crystal in accordance with the electric field by applying the electric field to the liquid crystal polymer composite layer so that the liquid crystal polymer composite layer can scatter light. The above composite layer is formed by photo-polymerizing a precursor of the polymer dissolved in the liquid crystal containing an additive, which is a compound having a benzene ring of which at least one hydrogen atom is substituted by a hydroxyl group or a compound having hydroxybenzene ring as a skeletal structure, such as di-tert-butylhydroquinone. The additive improves an initial reflection ratio, a reflection ratio after aging under normal operating conditions and contrast in comparison with the case where the additive is not added.
(FR) L'invention concerne un dispositif électro-optique avec un polymère dispersé dans des cristaux liquides formant une couche composite cristaux liquides - polymère (7) dans laquelle les cristaux liquides (7A) et le polymère (7B) sont dispersés dans différentes phases et dans laquelle les cristaux liquides et le polymère sont orientés dans la même direction quand aucun champ électrique n'est appliqué. Des structures d'électrodes (3, 4) sont prévues sur les deux surfaces de la couche composite cristaux liquides - polymère, pour orienter les cristaux liquides par application d'un champ électrique à la couche composite cristaux liquides - polymère et faire en sorte que la couche composite disperse à ce moment la lumière. Cette couche composite est formée en photopolymérisant un précurseur du polymère dissous dans les cristaux liquides contenant un additif, qui est un composé ayant un noyau benzénique dont au moins un atome d'hydrogène est remplacé par un groupe hydroxyle ou un composé ayant un noyau hydrobenzène comme structure de base, par exemple la di-tert-butylhydroquinone. L'additif améliore le rapport de réflexion initial et après un vieillissement dans des conditions de fonctionnement normales, ainsi que le contraste, par comparaison avec une couche ne contenant pas l'additif.
