Abstract:
(EN) A reader (114) interrogates a transponder (118) attached to a remote object. The transponder (118) includes a microstrip patch antenna having two segments (1, 2) connected together by a switch (3) each segment being one-half wavelength, the antenna being a full wavelength at the frequency of the interrogating signal. In response to a control signal, the switch (3) is opened and closed, thereby coupling and decoupling the two segments (1, 2) of the microstrip antenna. When the switch (3) is in the closed position, the two segments (1, 2) are out-of-phase with one another, the two producing a maximum reflected signal. When the switch (3) is in the open position, the two segments act in concert to produce a minimum backscattered signal. The backscatter signal is thus modulated in accordance with the control signal and is received at thereader where it is subsequently decoded to identify the remote object.

Le transpondeur (118) comprend une antenne microruban à plaque comportant deux segments (1, 2) reliés par un commutateur (3), chaque segment faisant une demi-longueur d'onde et l'antenne une longueur d'onde entière à la fréquence du signal d'interrogation. En réponse à un signal de commande, le commutateur (3) s'ouvre et se ferme, couplant et découplant ainsi les deux segments (1, 2) de l'antenne microruban. Quand le commutateur (3) est en position fermée, les deux segments (1, 2) sont déphasés l'un par rapport à l'autre et produisent un signal réfléchi maximum. Quand le commutateur (3) est en position ouverte, les deux segments agissent de concert de façon à produire un signal rétrodiffusé minimum. le signal rétrodiffusé est donc modulé conformément au signal de commande et il est reçu au niveau du lecteur,où il est ensuite décodé en vu de l'identification de l'objet à distance.
