Abstract:
(EN) Disclosed is an MR head (20), and the method of making same, which has a pole/shield (24). In the preferred embodiment, the pole side (30) of the pole/shield is constructed such that it has a length (WL) that is approximately equal to the length of the pole (22), and a shield side (40) that is approximately the length of a shield. Through this construction, the MR element (32), which is disposed between the shield side and the shield, is fully shielded during a read operation. Additionally, the flux lines generated during a write operation approximate the length of the pole so that excessive fringing does not occur. As a result of the smaller flux lines generated between the pole and the pole side of the pole/shield, data may be more densely packed on the disk used in conjunction with the MR head.

Dans le mode de réalisation préféré, la face pôle (30) du pôle/blindage est conçue de telle manière que sa longueur (WL) est approximativement égale à la longueur du pôle (22) et la face blindage (40) est approximativement égale à la longueur d'un blindage. Grâce à cette construction, l'élément (32) à magnéto-résistance qui est placé entre la face blindage et le blindage est complètement blindée pendant une opération de lecture. De plus, les lignes de flux produites pendant une opération d'écriture ont à peu près la longueur du pôle si bien qu'il n'en résulte pas de dispersion excessive. Des lignes plus petites étant produites entre le pôle et la face pôle du pôle/blindage, des données peuvent être chargées de manière plus dense sur le disque utilisé en conjonction avec ladite tête à magnéto-résistance.
