Abstract:
(EN) The invention relates to a process for mitigating NOx-induced sludge formation in engine oils by dissolving in an engine oil of lubricating viscosity an effective amount of a molecule having at least one head portion enriched in NOx reactive carbon-carbon unsaturation and at least one oil soluble hydrocarbyl, preferably aliphatic, tail portion having an absence of carbon-carbon unsaturation of suitable chain length in an optimum ratio of head to tail sufficient to reduce NOx-induced sludge formation in the engine oil. The invention also relates to formulated lube oil compositions containing the antinoxidant additive. The molecules include polyethylene propylene copolymer- and polyisobutylene-grafted hydroquinone polyalkylthiophenes, fullerene-grafted lube oil basestock, ethylene propylene polymer-grafted phenol and ethylene butylene polymer-grafted phenol.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'atténuer la formation de dépôts de boue et d'impuretés induites par NOx dans les huiles de lubrification de moteur, ce procédé consistant à dissoudre dans une huile ayant une viscosité de lubrification d'un moteur une quantité efficace d'une molécule ayant au moins une partie tête enrichie en insaturation carbone-carbone réagissant avec NOx et au moins une partie queue hydrocarbyle, de préférence aliphatique, soluble dans l'huile ayant une absence d'insaturation carbone-carbone et une longueur de chaîne appropriée, selon un rapport optimal tête/queue afin de réduire la formation de dépôts de boue et d'impuretés induites par NOx dans l'huile du moteur. L'invention concerne également la formulation de composition d'huile de lubrification contenant l'additif antinoxydant. Les molécules comprennent des hydroquinones polyalkylthiophènes greffés sur polyisobutylène et sur un copolymère polyéthylène propylène, un matériau à base d'huile de lubrification à greffe fullerène, un phénol à greffe polymère éthylène propylène et un phénol à greffe polymère éthylène butylène.
