Abstract:
(EN) In a multiple access transmission system it can be desired to have the possibility to change the type of access protocol in response to the traffic demand of subscriber stations in order to prevent deterioration of the transmission efficieny. In order to do so, the primary station (2) transmits to the secondary stations (2, ...12) a channel indicator, indicating where in the uplink frame the secondary station can submit its access requests. In a preferred embodiment, the primary station submits also the message the secondary station has to use when submitting an access request. Applications of the invention include multimedia networks using CATV systems.
(FR) Dans un système de transmission à accès multiples, il peut être souhaitable d'avoir la possibilité de modifier le type de protocole d'accès en réponse à la demande de trafic de stations abonnées, afin d'empêcher la détérioration de l'efficacité de la transmission. De ce fait, la station primaire (2) transmet aux stations secondaires (2...12) un indicateur de canal indiquant l'emplacement de la séquence montante auquel la station secondaire peut adresser ses demandes d'accès. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, la station primaire transmet également le message que la station secondaire doit utiliser quand elle adresse une demande d'accès. Des mises en applications de l'invention incluent des réseaux multimédia utilisant des systèmes CATV.
