Abstract:
(EN) The present invention provides a method (100, 700), device (400, 800) and microprocessor (500) for performing a computationally efficient iterative expansion of a displaced frame difference, DFD, image over a predetermined dictionary of modulated Gaussian functions for the purposes of video compression. The iterative expansion described in this invention decomposes the DFD image into a set of coefficients which represent the perceptually important areas of a video frame in a compact way. The resulting method, device and microprocessor serve to provide a means for very low bit rate coding/decoding of a video sequence.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé (100, 700), un dispositif (400, 800) et un microprocesseur (500) permettant d'effectuer une expansion itérative, efficace du point de vue calcul, d'une image DFD (différence de trame déplacée) à l'aide d'un dictionnaire prédéterminé de fonctions gaussiennes modulées, afin d'effectuer une compression vidéo. L'expansion itérative décompose l'image DFD en une série de coefficients qui représentent d'une manière compacte les zones perceptuellement importantes d'une trame vidéo. Le procédé, le dispositif et le microprocesseur qui en résultent permettent de coder/décoder une séquence vidéo à un débit binaire très faible.
