Abstract:
(EN) The invention relates to a method by which new antigens from vector-borne pathogens may be discovered and analyzed by incubating the viable pathogens in the saliva of their vector host. Three such antigens, proteins with the approximate molecular weights of (19, 22 and 24) kDa, have been discovered and analyzed from a strain of $i(B. burgdorferi) T-15. The proteins provide a route for the development of immunodiagnostics for Lyme disease and related disorders. The proteins and related amino acids and DNA sequences may also be used for the immunization, for the detection of $i(B. burgdorferi) in human or body fluids, and also for the generation of specific antibodies for use in diagnosis, epidemiology, prevention of and treatment of Lyme disease.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet de découvrir et d'analyser de nouveaux antigènes provenant d'agents pathogènes transportés par des vecteurs, par la mise en incubation des agents pathogènes viables dans la salive de leur hôte vecteur. On a découvert et analysé, à partir d'une souche de $i(B. burgdorferi) T-15, trois de ces antigènes, des protéines d'un poids moléculaire approximatif de 19,22 et 24 kDa qui ouvrent une voie vers la mise au point d'un diagnostic immunologique concernant la maladie de Lyme et les troubles connexes. Ces protéines, et les acides aminés et séquences d'ADN associés, peuvent également servir à l'immunisation, à la détection de $i(B. burgdorferi) dans des fluides humains ou corporels, et aussi à produire des anticorps spécifiques utilisés pour le diagnostic, l'épidémiologie, la prévention et le traitement de la maladie de Lyme.
