Abstract:
(EN) The invention provides a phase-separated composition suitable for use on an ink-jet recording sheet, an ink-jet recording sheet having said composition coated onto at least one major surface, and an ink-jet recording sheet having a two layer coating structure. Phase separated compositions of the invention comprise: a) at least one nonionic fluorocarbon surfactant, b) at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of hydroxycellulose and substituted hydroxycellulose polymers, and c) at least one phase separation additive; such composition being crosslinkable when subjected to temperatures of at least about 90 °C, such composition forming a microporous coating when dried at elevated temperatures. In the ink-jet recording sheet having a two layer coating structure, there is a thick absorptive bottom layer comprising at least one crosslinkable polymeric component, and a top layer comprising the above phase-separated composition.
(FR) L'invention concerne une composition à phases séparées destinée à une feuille d'enregistrement pour jet d'encre, ladite feuille ayant au moins une de ses plus grandes surfaces revêtue par ladite composition et comportant une structure de revêtement à deux couches. Ces compositions à phases séparées comprennent (a) un ou plusieurs surfactants fluorocarbonés non ioniques, (b) un ou plusieurs polymères choisis dans le groupe constitué de l'hydroxycellulose et de polymères substitués avec de l'hydroxycellulose, et (c) un ou plusieurs additifs de séparation de phases. Cette composition peut être réticulée quand elle est soumise à des températures d'au moins 90 °C environ et forme un revêtement microporeux quand elle est séchée à des températures élevées. La structure à deux couches de la feuille d'enregistrement revêtue est constituée d'une couche de fond absorbante épaisse comprenant un ou plusieurs composants polymères réticulables, et d'une couche extérieure comprenant la composition de séparation de phases ci-dessus.
