A method enabling two groups of persons (12) to exchange data securely and quickly, where one of the groups is stationary (particularly a remote service provider) while the other is mobile (particularly the customers (11) of the service provider). According to the method, credit card-sized portable objects (10) are issued to the persons in the mobile group. The card is used to transmit short, DTMF-type acoustic identification signals (20) that are at least partially encrypted and are received by means of the microphone (17) of a standard telephone apparatus, then processed by the standard telephone apparatus (16) to enable the resulting signal to be transmitted via a telephone or computer network (15) to the computer service (18) of at least one of the persons (12) in the stationary group. Signals from the card are processed using specific software (26) having parameters that are dependent on the characteristics of the card, its operating conditions in combination with the microphone of the telephone apparatus, and the characteristics of the communication network for special signals corresponding to the transmitted identification data. The signals are decrypted and the resulting decrypted data is compared with the card and card holder identification data held by the computer service.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant à deux populations (12) de personnes, l'une étant sédentaire (notamment un prestataire de services à distance) l'autre étant nomade (notamment les clients (11) de ce prestataire de services), d'échanger des données de manière sûre et rapide. Ce procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: on met à la disposition des personnes de la population nomade des objets portatifs, au format carte de crédit (10). Au moyen de cette carte, on émet de brefs signaux acoustiques d'identification (20), de type DTMF, cryptés au moins en partie, qui sont reçus au moyen du microphone (17) d'un équipement téléphonique standard puis traités au moyen de l'équipement téléphonique standard (16) de manière à ce que le signal résultant puisse être transmis, via un réseau téléphonique ou informatique (15), au service informatique (18) d'une au moins des personnes (12) de la population sédentaire. On traite les signaux provenant de la carte au moyen d'un logiciel spécifique (26) dont les paramètres sont fonction des caractéristiques de la carte, de ses conditions d'utilisation en combinaison avec le microphone de l'équipement téléphonique, des caractéristiques du réseau de communication pour des signaux d'un type particulier correspondant aux données d'identification transmises, on décrypte les signaux, et les données obtenues après décryptage sont comparées aux données d'identification de la carte et de la personne titulaire de la carte, détenues par le service informatique.
