Abstract:
(Meth)acrylic copolymers of general formula (1) are described, wherein all M+s are monovalent cations formed from the total or partial neutralization of -COOH groups; R¿1? and R2 are selected from hydrogen, straight or branched long chain alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals and aryl radicals with 8 to about 22 carbon atoms, with the proviso that at least one of R1 and R2 is not hydrogen; R3 and R4 are independently selected from a hydrogen atom, short chain alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals with 1 to 7 carbon atoms and aryl radicals with 6 to 7 carbon atoms; R5, R6 and R7 are each independently selected from a hydrogen atom and a methyl radical; τ1 is the molar ratio of the long chain amide units in the copolymer and τ2 is the molar ratio of the short chain amide units that may be present in the copolymer. Their weight average molecular weight is equal to 30,000 or less and τ1 is 0.01 - 0.30. The invention is useful for pigment dispersions.
