(EN)An apparatus for, and method of, improving the resolution of a conventional imaging system (32) by effectively increasing the bandwidth of an imaging system's transfer function. An object is first illuminated with periodic illumination. The phase of the periodic illumination is varied while the periodic illumination is used to scan the object. A plurality of images are received by an imaging system whereby the images received correspond to variations in the phase of the periodic illumination. These images are subsequently processed (28) to extract information in phase with the periodic illumination and information 90 degrees out of phase with the illumination.
(FR)Dispositif et procédé servant à améliorer la résolution d'un système d'imagerie classique (32) par augmentation effective de la largeur de bande d'une fonction de transfert du système d'imagerie. On éclaire d'abord un objet par un éclairage périodique. On varie la phase de l'éclairage périodique tandis qu'on utilise l'éclairage périodique pour balayer l'objet. Une pluralité d'images est reçue par un système d'imagerie, ces images reçues correspondant à des variations de phase de l'éclairage périodique. On traite (28) ensuite ces images, de manière à extraire des informations en phase avec l'éclairage périodique, ainsi que des informations déphasées à 90° par rapport à l'éclairage.
