Abstract:
(EN) A process for preparing a polyhydroxystyrene having a novolak type structure which comprises the step of polymerizing a mixture of carboxylic acid and at least one substituted phenyl carbinol whose formula is (I), wherein (a) R1 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl C1-C20, substituted and unsubstituted phenyl, and C(O)R8 (where R8 is alkyl C1-C20); (b) R2 is selected from the group consisting of H and alkyl C1-C20; and (c) R3-R7 are each independently selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl C1-C20, OR9 (where R9 is H, alkyl C1-C20), esters thereof, or substituted and unsubstituted phenyl), halogen, BZT, nitro, or amino, with the proviso that at least one of R3-R7 is OR9, in the presence of a suitable catalyst for a sufficient period of time and under suitable conditions of temperature and pressure to form said novolak type polymer.
(FR) Selon ce procédé de préparation d'un polyhydroxystyrène à structure de type novolaque, on polymérise un mélange d'acide carboxylique et d'au moins un phénylcarbinol substitué de formule (I), dans laquelle (a) R1 est sélectionné dans un groupe constitué de H, alkyle C1-C20, phényle substitué et non substitué, et C(O)R8 (où R8 désigne alkyle C1-C20); (b) R2 est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué de H et d'alkyle C1-C20; et (c) R3-R7 sont indépendamment sélectionnés dans le groupe constitué de H, alkyle C1-C2, OR9 (où R9 désigne H, alkyle C1-C20, ses esters, ou phényle substitué et non substitué), halogène BZT, nitro ou amino, à condition qu'au moins un des substituants R3-R7 désigne OR9. La réaction de polymérisation est conduite en présence d'un catalyseur approprié pendant un temps suffisant et dans des conditions de température et de pression propices à la formation du polymère de type novolaque.
