Methods and apparatus for transferring two 4-wire analog data signals over a single twisted pair line. The two 4-wire analog data signals are converted into a multiplexed binary signal, the multiplexed binary signal is converted into a 2-wire digital encoded signal; the 2-wire digital encoded signal is transferred over a single twisted pair to a second location; and at the second location, the 2-wire digital signal is converted to a multiplexed binary signal, and the multiplexed binary signal is converted to two 4-wire analog data signals. The apparatus includes an easily installed dual 4-wire analog data central office terminal (100) and a dual 4-wire analog data remote terminal (110). The apparatus can provide a 4:1 pair gain by multiplexing signals representing the 4-wire analog data signals.

L'invention porte sur des procédés et un appareil permettant de transférer deux signaux de données analogiques 4 fils sur une seule ligne à paires torsadées. Les deux signaux de données analogiques quatre fils sont convertis en un signal binaire multiplexé, lequel est converti à son tour en signal numérique codé 2 fils; ce dernier est transféré sur une seule ligne à paires torsadées à un second emplacement où il est converti en signal binaire multiplexé, lequel est converti en deux signaux de données analogiques 4 fils. L'appareil comporte un double terminal de central téléphonique (100), d'installation facile, de données analogiques 4 fils et un double terminal à distance (110) de données analogiques 4 fils. Cet appareil permet un gain par paires d'une valeur de quatre pour un par le multiplexage de signaux représentant les signaux de données analogiques 4 fils.
