Ferrierite is prepared by a method that provides extremely pure crystalline material. The method consists of preparing a mixture of silica, alumina, alkali metal and pyridine of a certain composition and heating said mixture to form the crystals. The SiO2/Al2O3 and OH-/SiO2 are controlled to insure preparation of high SiO2/Al2O3 ratio, high surface area and high purity ferrierite. An olefin skeletal isomerization catalyst is prepared from a high silica to alumina ratio, high surface area and high purity ferrierite.

On prépare de la ferriérite au moyen d'un procédé qui permet d'obtenir un matériau cristallin extrêmement pur. Ce procédé consiste à préparer un mélange de silice, d'alumine, de métal alcalin et de pyridine, selon une certaine composition, et à chauffer ledit mélange pour former les cristaux. Les rapports SiO2/Al2O3 et OH-/SiO2 sont régulés pour assurer l'obtention d'une ferriérite présentant un rapport SiO/Al2O3 élevé, une surface importante et une grande pureté. Un catalyseur d'isomérisation de squelette oléfinique est obtenu au moyen d'une ferriérite présentant un rapport silice/alumine élevé, une surface importante et une grande pureté.
