A pneumatic height adjustment column is provided for a chair. The column includes a support tube (7), carrier tube (13), pneumatic cartridge (17), hub fastener (35), and shaft fastener (51). The support tube has a top end which is generally open, and a bottom portion (9) which is adapted to be mounted to a chair base. The bottom portion has an opening (16) with a smaller diameter than that of the support tube (7). The carrier tube (13) has a top portion adapted to be mounted to a support housing (6) for a chair seat. The top portion has an opening with a smaller diameter than that of the carrier tube (13). The carrier tube (13) also has a generally open bottom end which telescopically engages the top end of the support tube. The pneumatic cartridge (17) has a cylinder (19) positioned within the carrier tube (13), a shaft (23) and hub (30). The cylinder (19) has a diameter greater than that of the opening in the carrier tube (13). The shaft (23) extends downwardly from the cylinder (19) and has a bottom end which passes through the opening in the bottom of the support tube (7). The hub (30) is disposed on a top portion of the cylinder (19) and passes through the opening in the top of the carrier tube (13). The hub fastener (35) releasably engages the hub (30) and carrier tube (13). The shaft fastener (51) is attached to the shaft (23) and maintains the position of the bottom end of the shaft (23) through the opening in the bottom of the support tube (7).

L'invention concerne une colonne à réglage en hauteur pneumatique destinée à un siège. Ladite colonne comporte un tube de support (7), un tube porteur (13), une cartouche pneumatique (17), un dispositif de fixation de moyeu (35) et un dispositif de fixation de tige (51). Le tube de support comporte une extrémité supérieure qui est, en général, ouverte et une partie inférieure (9) qui est adaptée pour être montée sur un piétement de siège. La partie inférieure est pourvue d'une ouverture (16) dont le diamètre est plus petit que celui du tube de support (7). Le tube porteur (13) comporte une partie supérieure adaptée pour être montée à un corps de support (6) destiné à une assise de siège. La partie supérieure est pourvue d'une ouverture dont le diamètre est plus petit que celui du tube porteur (13). Le tube porteur (13) est pourvu d'une extrémité inférieure, en général ouverte, qui s'engage de façon télescopique dans l'extrémité supérieure du tube de support. La cartouche pneumatique (17) comprend un cylindre (19) placé dans le tube porteur (13), une tige (23) et un moyeu (30). Le cylindre (19) a un diamètre plus grand que celui de l'ouverture du tube porteur (13). La tige (23) s'étend vers le bas, depuis le cylindre (19), et comporte une extrémité inférieure qui passe par l'ouverture ménagée dans la partie inférieure du tube de support (7).
