A cable splitter includes knife sets having cutting edges which are free to move relative to adjacent cutting edges. By interleaving two sets of knife sets and using springs to force all the cutting edges together, the knives remain in contact and cut with a shearing, scissoring action which cuts completely through the cable insulation, even high performance insulations.

Un dispositif pour scinder un câble comporte des jeux de couteaux ayant des bords coupants qui sont libres de se déplacer par rapport aux bords coupants adjacents. Du fait que les deux jeux de couteaux s'imbriquent et que des ressorts sont utilisés pour pousser tous les bords coupants ensemble, les couteaux restent en contact et coupent complètement à travers la partie isolante du câble avec un effet de cisaillement, à la manière de ciseaux, même lorsqu'il s'agit d'isolants haute performance.
