Abstract

Grafted polymer particles are prepared by a free-radical addition polymerization mechanism using a flame produced by igniting a mixture of a combustible gas and an oxidant to heat at least a portion of the surface of a solid polymer particle to produce free-radicals thereon. At least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer is contacted and reacted with the free-radicals formed on the surface of the polymer to form a graft thereon.

On prépare des particules de polymère greffées par un mécanisme de polymérisation par addition de radicaux libres en utilisant une flamme produite par inflammation d'un mélange de gaz combustible et d'oxydant pour chauffer au moins une partie de la surface d'une particule polymère solide et produire des radicaux libres sur celle-ci. On met au moins un monomère éthyléniquement insaturé et polymérisable en contact avec les radicaux libres formés sur la surface du polymère pour le faire réagir avec ces derniers et former une greffe sur celle-ci.
