A liquid phase, powder bed polymerization process for preparing syndiotactic polymers of vinylaromatic monomers comprising: A) continuously introducing one or more vinylaromatic monomers and one or more catalyst systems to a horizontally disposed, continuously agitated, cylindrically shaped reactor containing a particulated solid, the contents of which are maintained in an agitated state at a Froude Number in the range from 0.1 to 10, and B) continuously removing polymerized product therefrom.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de polymérisation au moyen d'un lit de poudre en phase liquide, permettant d'obtenir des polymères syndiotactiques à base de monomères vinylaromatiques. Ce procédé consiste: A) tout d'abord à introduire continuellement un ou plusieurs monomères vinylaromatiques et un ou plusieurs systèmes catalyseur dans un réacteur cylindrique horizontal et soumis à une agitation continue, lequel réacteur contient un solide particulaire, le contenu du réacteur étant maintenu dans un état d'agitation à un nombre de Froude variant entre 0,1 et 10; B) puis à retirer en continu le produit polymérisé ainsi obtenu dudit réacteur.
