A housing for a gas valve or the like, said housing comprising a first housing portion, which is connected to a second housing portion with the interposition of a flexible sealing element, whereby each housing portion is provided with a substantially circular contact surface, against which the sealing element abuts. The sealing element and/or either one or both contact surfaces are shaped in such a manner that only part of a contact surface is in contact with a part of the surface of the sealing element at the location of the contact surfaces. The two housing portions are kept a predetermined distance apart by connecting means, so that there will only be local deformation in the part of the sealing element that is located between the contact surfaces. The sealing element is provided with at least one annular rib, which abuts against a contact surface with part of its surface. The rib may taper off from the surface of the sealing element and be oriented towards the central axis of the ring, seen in cross-sectional view.

Corps pour soupape de gaz ou analogue, comportant une première partie de corps reliée à une seconde partie de corps avec interposition d'un élément souple d'étanchéité. Chaque partie du corps est munie d'une surface de contact sensiblement circulaire contre laquelle vient buter l'élément d'étanchéité. L'élément d'étanchéité et/ou l'une et/ou l'autre des surfaces de contact ont des formes telles que seule une partie d'une surface de contact se trouve au contact d'une partie de la surface de l'élément d'étanchéité au niveau des surfaces de contact. Les deux parties du corps sont écartées l'une de l'autre selon une distance déterminée par des moyens de liaison, de sorte qu'il ne se produit qu'une déformation locale de la partie de l'élément d'étanchéité située entre les surfaces de contact. L'élément d'étanchéité est pourvu d'au moins une nervure annulaire venant buter au niveau d'une partie de sa surface contre une surface de contact. Vue en profil transversal, la nervure peut diminuer progressivement à partir de la surface de l'élément d'étanchéité, et être orientée vers l'axe central de l'anneau.
