A method of and an apparatus for controlling continuous casting comprising the steps of measuring the molten metal level inside a mold immediately after the start of teeming until the molten metal level reaches the level of the steady operation, controlling the teeming rate, and automatically starting cast-drawing. The molten metal level is continuously measured by an electrode type level meter, and the molten metal rise rate is determined on the basis of the change of the molten metal level. The flow rate of the molten steel discharged from the tundish is controlled on the basis of the difference between the molten metal rise rate and a reference rate. When the molten metal level reaches a predetermined reference level lower than the molten metal level of the steady operation, cast-drawing is started.

Procédé et appareil de régulation de la coulée continue, ledit procédé consistant à mesurer le niveau de métal en fusion à l'intérieur d'un moule, immédiatement après le début de la coulée en lingotières et jusqu'à ce que le niveau de métal en fusion atteigne le niveau de fonctionnement stable, à réguler la vitesse de coulée en lingotières, et à démarrer automatiquement l'étirage. Le niveau de métal en fusion est mesuré en continu par un appareil de mesure de niveau du type électrode, et la vitesse de montée du métal en fusion est déterminée en fonction du changement de niveau du métal en fusion. Le débit de métal en fusion déchargé de l'avant-creuset est régulé en fonction de la différence entre la vitesse de montée du métal en fusion et une vitesse de référence. L'étirage commence lorsque le niveau de métal en fusion atteint un niveau de référence prédéterminé inférieur au niveau de métal en fusion en fonctionnement stable.
