The invention relates to a fan (1), comprising: a central hub (2); a plurality of blades (3) connected to this hub (2) and extending at least more or less in radial direction, which blades (3) take a form such that when driven rotatably round the axis of the hub, an air displacement occurs; and drive means (4) for rotatably driving the blades (3) with the hub (2) round the axis of the hub. The invention provides a fan (1) of the stated type which has the feature that the end zones of the blades (3) are connected by a ring (6), which ring (6) is supported rotatably in an annular housing (7); the drive means (4) comprise a motor which is placed at a distance from the hub outside the air flow generated by the driven blades; the axial dimension of the ring and that of the annular housing is a maximum of 0.2 x the diameter; and the annular housing is supported by supporting means, for instance a foot (8, 9) for placing on a surface.

L'invention concerne un ventilateur (1) comprenant un moyeu central (2), plusieurs pales (3) reliées à ce moyeu (2), et s'étendant dans des directions plus ou moins radiales et d'une forme telle que lorsqu'elles sont mises en rotation autour de l'axe du moyeu, il se produit un déplacement d'air; ce ventilateur comporte également des organes d'entraînement (4) destinés à mettre les pales (3) et le moyeu (2) en rotation autour de l'axe de celui-ci. Le ventilateur (1) du type décrit ci-dessus possède des pales (3) dont les extrémités sont reliées par un cerclage (6) monté, de manière à pouvoir tourner, dans un carter annulaire (7), des organes d'entraînement (4) comportant un moteur placé à distance du moyeu, en dehors du flux d'air produit par les pales en mouvement, la dimension axiale du cerclage et celle du carter annulaire étant égales au maximum à 0, 2 fois le diamètre le carter annulaire étant doté d'un support, par exemple, un pied (8, 9), permettant de poser le ventilateur sur une surface.
