Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Isolierung neuer Pathogen-induzierter cDNA-Klone sowie ein Verfahren zur Erzeugung pathogenresistenter Pflanzen, bei dem ein chimäres Genkonstrukt, bestehend aus einem aktiven Promoter, einer Virus-induzierte Proteine (VIP-Proteine) kodierenden Region und einem Polyadenylierungssignal, in das Erbgut der Pflanzen eingeführt wird. Die neuen VIP-Protein-Gene wurden aus transgenen Tabakpflanzen isoliert, die eine erhöhte Virusresistenz aufweisen. Die VIP-Proteine stellen eine neue Klasse der PR-Proteine dar. Gegenstand der Erfindung sind ferner die neuen DNA-Sequenzen, welche für die VIP-Proteine kodieren, sowie Pflanzen und Pflanzenteile, die ein durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren verändertes Erbgut aufweisen. Die neuen Pflanzen haben eine höhere Pathogenresistenz. Anwendungsgebiete der Erfindung sind die Landwirtschaft und die Gentechnik.

The invention pertains to the isolation of new pathogen-induced cDNA clones as well as a method for producing pathogen-resistant plants, wherein a chimeric gene construct consisting of an active promoter, a region coding virus-induced proteins (VIP proteins) and a polyadenylation signal is introduced into the genetic material of the plant. The new VIP protein genes were isolated from transgenic tobacco plants that have an elevated resistance to virus. The VIP proteins represent a new class of PR proteins. The invention also pertains to new DNA sequences which code for the VIP proteins as well as plants and parts of plants that have genetic material altered using the claimed method. The new plants have a higher resistance to pathogens. The invention has industrial application in agriculture and genetic engineering.

L'invention concerne l'isolation de nouveaux clones d'ADNc induits par agents pathogènes, ainsi qu'un procédé permettant de produire des végétaux résistant aux agents pathogènes, selon lequel un produit de recombinaison génique chimérique comprenant un promoteur actif, une région codant les protéines induites par virus (protéines VIP) et un signal de polyadénylation, est introduit dans le patrimoine héréditaire des végétaux. Les nouveaux gènes de protéine VIP ont été isolés à partir de pieds de tabac transgéniques qui présentent une résistance élevée aux virus. Les protéines VIP constituent une nouvelle catégorie de protéines PR. L'invention concerne en outre de nouvelles séquences d'ADN qui codent les protéines VIP, ainsi que des végétaux et des parties de végétaux dont le patrimoine héréditaire se trouve modifié par ledit procédé. Ces nouveaux végétaux ont une résistance élevée aux agents pathogènes. L'invention s'applique à l'agriculture et au génie génétique.
