A miniature scanning apparatus light collection system with a detector (28) in which a collector is a body of material transmissive at the laser wavelength. The body presents a surface which is orientable so that the return light is incident at or close to perpendicular to the surface. In the body and parallel to the surface is a volume grating (62) having Bragg planes (70) arranged in rings (82 and 84) around center regions (32 and 34) in alignment with the detectors. The angles of the Bragg planes vary progressively and decrease in a direction towards the center region so that light which is incident on the collector at angles of incidence which vary from perpendicular to the surface by about ±5 degrees are diffracted and propagate by guided mode propagation including reflections at the internal surfaces of the body and transmission through the grating to the detector.

L'invention concerne un système miniature comprenant un appareil de balayage et un capteur de lumière, et pourvu d'un détecteur (28) dans lequel un capteur est un corps constitué d'un matériau qui est transmissif à la longueur d'onde du laser. Ledit corps présente une surface qui peut être orientée de sorte que la lumière réfléchie vienne la frapper perpendiculairement ou presque perpendiculairement. Dans ledit corps, et parallèlement à la surface, se trouve un réseau volumique (62) présentant des plans de Bragg (70) disposés en anneaux (82 et 84) autour de régions centrales (32 et 34) alignées avec les détecteurs. Les angles des plans de Bragg varient progressivement et diminuent en direction de la région centrale, de sorte que la lumière qui vient frapper le capteur à des angles d'incidence qui varient, par rapport à la perpendiculaire à la surface, d'environ ± 5 degrés subit une diffraction et se propage selon un mode de propagation guidé, des réflexions s'opérant au niveau des surfaces internes du corps et la transmission se faisant à travers le réseau, en direction du détecteur.
