The present invention is directed to a method of making battery grids. In particular, a method of simultaneously casting multiple battery grid strips on a continuous casting machine (10) is provided. The mold (22) includes a pair of bipartite grid cavities (24 and 24') respectively having a pair of adjacent grid cavity segments (26A, 26B and 26A', 26B') which communicate with each other through a common groove such that the resultant dual grid strips formed thereon each include a pair of grid strip segments that are connected by a series of flexible or frangible nodes to form a layered grid strip. The grid strip is then pasted with an active material and cut into individual battery plates.

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé pour fabriquer des grilles d'accumulateurs et, en particulier, à un procédé pour couler en simultané plusieurs bandes de grilles d'accumulateurs sur une machine à mouler par coulage en continu (10). Le moule utilisé (22) comprend une paire de cavités de grille à deux compartiments (24 et 24') ayant respectivement une paire de segments de cavité de grille adjacents (26A, 26B et 26A', 26B'), lesquels communiquent l'un avec l'autre par une rainure commune, pour que les bandes de grille doubles qui en résultent formées sur cette rainure comportent chacune une paire de segments de bande de grille, qui sont reliés par une série de n÷uds flexibles ou cassables, afin de former une bande de grille en couches. Cette bande de grille est ensuite empâtée avec un matériau actif et découpée en plaques d'accumulateur séparées.
