Zur bidirektionalen bewegungskompensierten Interpolation bei der Decodierung von komprimierten Videosequenzen wird vorgeschlagen, nur eines der beiden Referenzbilder vollständig zu decodieren. Von dem anderen Referenzbild werden lediglich jeweils diejenigen Bildbereiche dekomprimiert, welche mit dem zu ermittelnden Bildbereich des interpolierten Bildes unter Berücksichtigung einer der Bewegungskompensation entsprechenden Verschiebung überlappen.

For bidirectional motion-compensated interpolation in the decoding of compressed video sequences, the invention proposes that only one of the two reference images is completely decoded. From the other reference image, only those areas of the image are decoded which overlap with the area being processed of the interpolated image, allowing for the displacement related to motion compensation.

En vue d'une interpolation à mouvement compensé bidirectionnelle, lors du décodage de séquences vidéo comprimées, il est prévu de ne décoder complètement qu'une des deux images de référence. Pour ce qui est de l'autre image de référence, il est prévu de ne décomprimer que les zones qui recouvrent la zone à détecter de l'image interpolée, en tenant compte d'un déplacement correspondant à la compensation du mouvement.
