Abstract

An antenna for use at UHF and upwards has a cylindrical ceramic core (12) with a relative dielectric constant of at least 5. A three-dimensional radiating element structure, consisting of helical antenna elements (10A - 10D) on the cylindrical surface of the core (12) and connecting radial elements (10AR - 10AD) on a distal end face (12D) of the core, is formed by conductor tracks plated directly on the core surfaces. At the distal end face the elements are connected to an axially located feed structure in a plated axial passage (14) of the core (12). The antenna elements are connected together by a plated sleeve (20) covering a proximal part of the core (12) which, in conjunction with the feeder structure, forms an integral balun for matching to an unbalanced feeder. Since the ceramic core fills the major part of the interior volume defined by the radiating element structure, the antenna is very much smaller than an air-cored antenna. It is also mechanically robust and electrically stable.

Une antenne, destinée aux ondes décimétriques et plus courtes, comprend un noyau céramique cylindrique (12) à constante diélectrique relative d'au moins 5. Une structure tridimensionnelle d'élément rayonnant, consistant en éléments d'antenne hélicoïdaux (10A - 10D) disposés sur la surface cylindrique du noyau (12) et en éléments connecteurs radiaux (10AR - 10AD) placés sur la face de l'extrémité distale (12D) du noyau, est formée de pistes de conducteurs métallisées directement sur les surfaces du noyau. Sur cette face d'extrémité distale, ces éléments sont connectés à une structure d'alimentation à disposition axiale placée dans un passage axial métallisé (14) de ce noyau (12). Ces éléments d'antenne sont connectés par un manchon métallisé (20) recouvrant la partie proximale du noyau (12) qui, conjointement avec la structure d'alimentation, forme un symétriseur intégré permettant d'adapter une ligne d'alimentaion d'antenne non équilibrée. Comme le noyau céramique occupe l'essentiel du volume intérieur défini par la structure d'élément rayonnant, l'antenne est beaucoup plus petite qu'une antenne à noyau d'air. Elle est aussi robuste sur le plan mécanique et électriquement stable.
