Abstract

An electrochemical cell (30) having an on-cell tester (38) for visually indicating the condition of the cell (30) is provided with an electrically conductive metal ring (10) pressed onto the negative terminal at the crimp seal end of the cell (30) to permit the tester lead to make an electrical contact with the negative terminal without shorting across the positive terminal of the cell (30). The ring (10) has a cylindrical wall portion (12) or gripping means which frictionally grips a corresponding mating cylindrical wall portion on the negative terminal and also has a flange portion (16) adjacent the positive terminal. A layer of electrically insulating material (18) disposed between the flange and positive terminal prevents electrical contact between the terminals. The tester lead is either permanently electrically connected to the ring (10) or intermittently connected by the user, depending on the type of tester used.

Une pile électrochimique (30) ayant un dispositif (38) de vérification pour indiquer visuellement l'état de la pile (30) comporte un anneau métallique conducteur (10) fixé par pression sur la borne négative au niveau du joint de sertissage de la pile (30), pour permettre au conducteur du dispositif de vérification d'établir un contact électrique avec la borne négative sans provoquer de court-circuit avec la borne positive de la pile (30). L'anneau (10) a une portion de paroi cylindrique (12) ou un moyen de fixation d'une forme adaptée permettant une fixation par friction sur une portion de la surface cylindrique de la borne négative et également une portion de bride (16) jouxtant la borne positive. Une couche d'isolant électrique (18) entre la bride et la borne positive empêche le contact électrique entre les bornes. Le conducteur du dispositif de vérification est connecté électriquement à l'anneau (10) soit d'une manière permanente, soit à intervalles par l'utilisateur, suivant le type de dispositif utilisé.
