Apparatus, systems and methods are provided for controlling energy consumption by a selectively enabled processing system, such as a high-density code scanner. The selectively enabled processing system has at least one high-power consumption microprocessor (101) which does not include a low-power consumption mode. Also included are a power-supply (117), a switch and a trigger (111) for turning ON and OFF the power-supply (117), and a function for performing diagnostics. The performing diagnostics function operates on at least a portion of the selectively enabled processing system whenever the power-supply (117) is initially switched ON, and inhibit the power-supply (117) upon diagnostics completion. The trigger selectively enables function for causing the microprocessor (101) to consume the power-supply (117) for a pre-set time period while processing, and then inhibits the power-supply (117) upon expiration of the time period without re-performing diagnostics.

La présente invention concerne des dispositifs, systèmes et procédés de régulation de la consommation électrique d'un système informatique activé sélectivement, tel qu'un lecteur de codes haute résolution. Le système informatique à activation sélective comporte au moins un microprocesseur (101) fort consommateur électrique non pourvu de mode de consommation réduite. L'invention intègre également une alimentation électrique (117), un commutateur et un déclencheur (111) mettant l'alimentation électrique en état de MARCHE et D'ARRET, et une fonction d'exécution des diagnostics. La fonction d'exécution des diagnostics intervient sur une partie au moins du système informatique à activation sélective chaque fois que l'alimentation électrique (117) est mise en MARCHE, et bloque le fonctionnement de l'alimentation électrique (117) dès que les diagnostics sont terminés. En lançant sélectivement la fonction, le déclencheur entraîne la consommation par le microprocesseur (101) du courant d'alimentation électrique (117) pendant une durée prédéterminée pendant le traitement, puis bloque l'alimentation électrique (117) à la fin de ladite période, sans effectuer de nouveau les diagnostics.
