Abstract

A method for removing gaseous pollutants from a polluted flue gas stream of an oil or coal-fired combustion furnace. A source of liquified combustible gas and a combustible gas-fired furnace are provided. The polluted flue gas stream is passed through a dust removal apparatus and removes flue dust from the flue gas stream so as to provide a de-dusted flue gas stream. Heat is recovered from the flue gas to generate power therefrom. The de-dusted flue gas is compressed to a pressure of at least 10 psi gauge using the generated power to at least in part compress the de-dusted flue gas. The compressed flue gas and the combustible gas are passed through at least one multi-sided heat exchanger, where the compressed flue gas is first passed through one side thereof and the liquified combustible gas in an at least partially vaporized state is passed through another side thereof. The compressed flue gas is cooled sufficiently by the combustible gas that water and at least one gaseous pollutant of NO2, SO2 and CO2 are condensed and separated from the compressed flue gas to provide reduced pollutant flue gas. Fully vaporized combustible gas is passed to the combustible gas-fired furnace and combusted to a further flue gas and the further flue gas is passed into the polluted flue gas stream.

Procédé pour le retrait de polluants dans un courant de gaz brûlé pollué provenant d'une chaudière à combustion à mazout ou à charbon. Une source de gaz combustible liquéfié et une chaudière chauffée au gaz combustible sont décrites. Le flux de gaz brûlé pollué est passé à travers un appareil dépoussiérant, qui élimine les poussières du flux de gaz brûlé afin de donner un flux de gaz brûlé dépoussiéré. La chaleur du gaz brûlé est récupérée pour produire de la puissance. Le gaz brûlé dépoussiéré est comprimé à une pression d'au moins 10 psi, en faisant appel à la puissance produite pour comprimer au moins en partie le gaz brûlé dépoussiéré. Le gaz brûlé comprimé et le gaz combustible sont passés dans au moins un échangeur de chaleur multiple, dans lequel le gaz brûlé comprimé passe d'abord d'un côté et le gaz combustible liquéfié, au moins partiellement vaporisé, d'un autre côté. Le gaz brûlé comprimé est suffisamment refroidi par le gaz combustible pour que l'eau et au moins un polluant gazeux parmi le groupe de NO2, SO2 et CO2 soient condensés et séparés du gaz brûlé comprimé afin de donner un gaz brûlé à teneur réduite en polluants. Le gaz combustible entièrement évaporé est amené à la chaudière à gaz combustible et brûlé pour donner à nouveau du gaz brûlé, et ce nouveau gaz brûlé est ajouté au flux de gaz brûlé pollué.
