Abstract

A twin mass flywheel (10) in which two co-axially arranged flywheel masses (11, 12) are mounted for limited angular rotation relative to each other and a plurality of pivotal linkages (40) interconnect the two flywheel masses. Each linkage comprises a first link (41) pivotally connected (43) to one (12) of the flywheel masses, a second link (42) pivotally connected (44) to the other (11) of the flywheel masses, and a pivot (45) for pivotally connecting the first and second links. A resilient means in the form of an elastomeric torsion unit (46) or spring (36) is associated with the pivotal connection (44) of at least one link (42) with its associated flywheel (11) for controlling the relative rotation of said flywheel masses (11, 12).

Dans un volant d'inertie (10), deux masses d'inertie (11, 12) sont disposées d'une façon coaxiale permettant leur rotation angulaire relative limitée. Plusieurs liaisons à pivotement (40) relient ces deux masses. Chaque liaison comprend un premier bras (41) relié (43) de façon à pouvoir pivoter avec une (12) des masses d'inertie, un deuxième bras (42) relié (44) de façon à pouvoir pivoter avec l'autre (11) masse d'inertie, ainsi qu'un pivot (45) qui relie ces deux bras de façon qu'ils puissent pivoter. Un élément élastique, en forme de module de torsion élastomère (46) ou de ressort (36), est associé à l'articulation à pivot (44) reliant au moins un bras (42) et sa masse d'inertie associée (11) pour maîtriser la rotation relative des deux masses d'inertie (11, 12).
