The system for protecting harbors against sedimentation and for nourishing of shores consists of one or more seabed groins (6-8) or rectilinear, polygonal, or curvilinear trace and about elliptical cross section of 1/3 ratio between minor over major axis, each constructed by one-piece of impermeable by water geotextile material, of suitable width, ranging from 1m to 10m, and length, ranging from 20m to 400m, the said geotextile material being transformed by heat welding treatment into a watertight tube and then placed at fully immersed position at the siste of application, suitably tensioned to receive the desired longitudinal shape and finallly, filled in situ by a special mix of cast concrete that secures automatic advancement within the said watertight tube through gravity and hydrostatic forces, and filling of the entire tube, thus, upon hardening, providing the said with the design cross sections along all the length of the tube. Each application of the system to a port for protection of its basin against sedimentation, or shore for nourishment, is preceded by an oceanographic site investigation and a system design phase. The data to be collected refer to site seabed formation and material constitution, resultant current velocity field, and wave-wind climate. The said design involves analysis of the site investigation data and detail definition of the suitable system for the said site. In particular, the said design defines the number of seabed groins to be used, the shape and direction of each groin, and the total length and cross section geometry at steps of suitable length of each groin.

Procédé de protection des ports contre la sédimentation et de soutènement des rivages consistant en un ou plusieurs épis (6-8) pour fonds marins, de forme rectiligne, polygonale ou curviligne et possédant une section elliptique dont le rapport entre le petit et le grand axe est d'environ 1/3, chaque épi étant construit d'un seul tenant en un matériau géotextile imperméable à l'eau de largeur appropriée comprise entre 1 et 10 m et de longueur comprise entre 20 et 400 m; ce matériau est transformé par thermosoudage en un tube étanche à l'eau que l'on place sur son site d'implantation dans une position totalement immergée, que l'on tend de manière à lui donner la forme longitudinale souhaitée, que l'on remplit enfin entièrement in situ d'un mélange spécial de béton fluide dont l'avancement automatique dans ledit tube étanche est assuré par la gravitation et les forces hydrostatiques, et auquel on donne ensuite, lors du durcissement du béton, les sections à la configuration désirée sur toute la longueur du tube. Avant toute mise en ÷uvre de ce procédé aux fins de protection du bassin d'un port contre la sédimentation, on procède à une étude du site océanographique et à une phase de conception du procédé. Les données à recueillir se rapportent à la formation des fonds du site ainsi qu'aux matériaux les constituant, au domaine de la vitesse des courants ainsi qu'au régime des vagues/vents. Une telle conception implique l'analyse des données recueillies au cours de l'étude sur le site ainsi que la définition des caractéristiques du procédé approprié à un tel site, et permet notamment de déterminer le nombre d'épis à utiliser, leur forme et leur orientation ainsi que leur longueur totale et la géométrie de leur section au niveau de sections de longueur appropriée.
