Abstract

A method of culturing avian cells in a medium with a pH value of 7.8 or above, whereby avian cells can be subcultured stably for long. Since avian cells have been incapable of subculture heretofore, it has been impossible to effect $i(in vivo) cell or gene manipulation therewith. Now that such a manipulation becomes possible by the invention method, the way is opened for the industrial utilization of avian cells in the creation of transgenic birds and the production of vaccines.

Procédé de culture de cellules aviaires dans un milieu ayant une valeur pH de 7,8 ou plus, ce qui permet de repiquer lesdites cellules aviaires de manière stable sur une longue période. Etant donné qu'il était impossible jusqu'à présent de repiquer les cellules aviaires, il a également été impossible d'effectuer des manipulations cellulaires ou géniques $i(in vivo) à l'aide desdites cellules. Maintenant qu'une telle manipulation est possible grâce au procédé de la présente invention, la voie est ouverte à l'utilisation individuelle de cellules aviaires dans la création d'oiseaux transgéniques et la production de vaccins.
