A process for producing a 1-alkylthiomethanediphosphonic acid compound or a 1-arylthiomethanediphosphonic acid compound by the condensation reaction represented by formula (A), wherein the thiolate as the by-product is removed in the form of an insoluble salt (wherein R'1 represents C1-C6 linear or branched alkyl; R2 represents alkyl or aryl; and R1 represents a pharmacologically acceptable cation, hydrogen, or C1-C6 linear or branched alkyl). As compared with the conventional processes, this process is so improved in the yield that the product can readily be purified, thus being useful from the economic and industrial viewpoints.

Procédé d'élaboration d'un composé d'acide 1-alkylthiométhanediphosphonique ou d'un composé d'acide 1-arylthiométhanediphosphonique par la réaction de condensation réprésentée par la formule (A). Selon ce procédé, le thiolate obtenu comme sous-produit est extrait sous la forme d'un sel insoluble. Dans cette formule, R'1 représente un alkyle linéaire ou ramifié C1-C6; R2 représente un alkyle ou un aryle; et R1 représente un cation phamacologiquement acceptable, de l'hydrogène ou un alkyle linéaire ou ramifié C1-C6. Comparé aux procédés classiques, ce procédé constitue une telle amélioration sur le plan du rendement que le produit peut être aisément purifié, ce qui le rend particulièrement utile du point de vue économique et industriel.
