Method and apparatus for preparing and dispensing a cool beverage and for transporting ice. The apparatus utilizes a heat exchanger (50) for directly contacting water and ice to produce cooled heat exchanger water in the heat exchanger from the water and ice and an outflow of the cooled heat exchanger water. A beverage concentrate flows through a beverage concentrate conduit (90) that is in thermal contact with ice. The beverage concentrate is thus cooled by indirectly contacting the ice to produce an outflow of cooled beverage concentrate. A proportioner and mixer (110) receive the outflow of cooled heat exchanger water and the outflow of cooled beverage concentrate, and proportion and mix the outflows to produce a cool, proportioned, mixed beverage, which is dispensed from a dispensing valve (112). Ice for cooling a beverage is supplied to an upstream portion of a conduit, transported from the upstream portion of the conduit to a downstream portion of the conduit with a moving fluid, separated from the fluid at a downstream portion of the conduit, and the fluid is recirculated to the upstream portion of the conduit.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour transporter de la glace, pour préparer une boisson glacée et servir de distributeur. L'appareil comporte un échangeur thermique (50) permettant de mettre en contact direct de l'eau et de la glace, pour produire une eau glacée à l'intérieur de l'échangeur et à la sortie de celui-ci. Le concentré pour boisson circule dans une conduite (90) qui est en contact thermique avec la glace. Le concentré pour boisson est ainsi refroidi par contact indirect avec la glace, pour produire à la sortie un concentré refroidi pour boisson. Un dispositif de dosage et de mélange (110) reçoit l'eau glacée sortant de l'échangeur thermique et le concentré refroidi pour boisson, et les mélange dans les proportions requises pour produire une boisson mélangée et dosée qui sort par un robinet distributeur (112). La glace pour refroidir la boisson est fournie à une partie amont d'une conduite, transportée de la partie amont de la conduite vers une partie aval de la conduite avec un fluide en mouvement, séparée du fluide dans la partie aval de la conduite et le fluide est retourné vers la partie amont de la conduite.
